Can I restore the date of photos I've transferred into a new album?

Android Central Question

Usually when transferring my photos to a different album, they would keep their original dates. Recently however, somewhere along the line after some sort of update presumably, they've started taking the dates that I've moved them into a new album (or basically last modified them). My photos are now really out of order and I can't sort them into different albums unless I want to lose important date data. Is there any way to fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! This is pretty common behavior, because many gallery apps sort by the file creation date, rather than the date the photo was taken. I'm pretty sure Google Photos sorts by date taken, rather than when the file was created (assuming the photo still has intact EXIF data). If you don't want to use Google Photos, then try different 3rd party gallery apps to find one that might give you the option to sort by the date the photo was taken. Give Simple Gallery Pro or Piktures a try.
