If you want root after the OTA, you have to run Unrevoked Forever (to get S-OFF) BEFORE running the update.

Getting S-OFF is really no big deal. It takes seconds to load, then reboot. On the Unrevoked Forever page, they have another package to reverse it to S-ON, so there's no reason to worry now.

I installed the leaked RUU tonight and have root working on it right now.

As it has been said from the beginning, there is a possibility that the means they used to exploit root could be closed and they would have to find another way. If you have s-off of course it can be done, but I understand you not wanting to. I am still on the fence about it. Just wait a little bit and don't accept the update and wait for devs to find a new loop hole..... Am I in a cave? echo.. echo.. echo..

Really glad that someone addressed this.

So, let's say that I went through all the trouble of installing FroYo, but failed to do this first.

What's the best way back to 2.1 so I can follow the instructions in the first post?

Thanks!
