Can I root my moto droid this way?

I can't seem to find my usb cable can I just put my sd card into my computer (has a sd port) and mount it that way and put the files on my sd card directly or is the only way with the usb cable? Thanks

I don't know how it is for the OP, but when I bought my droid the rep told me the micro USB charger is becoming standard for most phones, I use my old BB charger at home, my girlfriends LG Envy Touch charger at her house, and just keep my usb cord at work

Yea I just charge it with my old bb charger I had for the tour. The usb cable charger is so freaking short I just havnt had a use for it until now.

If your just transferring the files to the sdcard your fine

As for your original question, you can root your droid by downloading the DMUpdater here on your Droid.
