Can I upgrade early for this?

Anyone know if Verizon would let me upgrade a week early for this?

I'm eligible for an annual upgrade next Thursday.. but I figure, one week early shouldn't be a big deal for them, right?

Any VZW employees here who can answer this?
 
Some people have been successful, others not -- there's no rhyme or reason it seems. Your mileage will vary.

Best thing to do is call VZW and ask. Or go into a store on Thursday and tell them you're making a purchase on the spot if they bump you up, and see what they say.
 
Ask for a manager if you have issues. Especially at a corporate store you should be able to convince them to bump you up a week.

VZW employee here. Your best option is to call customer service on Thursday and ask if they can order the phone for you. Keep in mind there are very strict policies on changing upgrade dates. That's what I would do if I were in your situation. Good luck!
 
Hmm.. ok, I will try both options. I mainly just don't want to be stuck with it being out of stock or something by next week and I have to wait even longer..

call the 1-800 verizon phone number and ask. they will make you order over the phone but atleast you can get it on launch day.
 
Although, from my experience, they normally will not do this even for a week, I just thought of what is possibly a good argument for this. You might want to try to present it.

After all, they have discontinued the annual upgrade in the future, so what is the harm of using your last one a week early? It's not like it's gonna make any of your others ever come earlier because you won't be getting any others :) .

ARgh my upgrade is a month away (4/24) so I think I may sit this one out, let you guys fool around with em' and report back here before I make any moves.

And Frank, thanks to your sig I just realized I'm actually VERY close to a 4G area. Closer than I thought.
 
Yeah, Im in a similar situation. Went and played with a dummy unit and LOVED it, but my upgrade isnt until like mid June and the rep said the earliest he could move it up was April 30th.

Anyone think its worth a shot to call customer service? They'd be getting my money still for the next two years so :p
 
I called Verizon and they said I could get an early upgrade since mine is up in may. They said the reason I can is since they are getting rid of new every 2 that I can do it. But they said I could only do it online, so I called the store and they said I could do it there. Only one way to fin out, if the store doesn't do it I'll just do it online and wait a day, I've already waited 3 months lol

That is good news. Maybe I can bring up the whole "u gettin rid of NE2" argument and see whats up. I mean I can wait either way.

The only thing keeping me from holding out of BIONIC is the grandfathering.
 
I'm eligible to upgrade on June 30. I'm really hoping Verizon will let me upgrade early so I can get the TB and unlimited data for $30.
 
With people talking of getting their upgrades bumped up and they are further out than mine... I'm getting optimistic. And excited. In pants.
 
I'm hoping I can get mine bumped up. I only need 3 days!

I called my local corporate store yesterday to make an appointment for when the store opens at 9am Thursday. The guy I spoke to wasn't working Thursday morning, so he said he would have someone call me who was. Got that call this morning and made the appointment. Told him about not being up for renewal until 3/20. He put me on hold for a few minutes and then said "they couldn't do that for this phone."

I explained that I had just added a new line so that I could get this phone. I wanted to transfer my work phone number (that was on a Vzw BlackBerry) to a new line on my personal account, so I had to go through a three step process (add a new line to my business account, switch the BB to the new line, transfer existing line to my personal account). When I found out that the contract term moved with the phone number and I was concerned about being able to get the phone if it came out on 3/17 (this was on 3/14), the phone rep said "Don't worry about it. It shouldn't be any problem to do it three days early." After telling him this story and giving him my work account number to verify, my local rep paused for a minute and said "Let me check again with my manager and I'll call you back in about 15 minutes."

That was this morning. Haven't heard back yet. Guess I'll just show up at 9:00 and hope for the best. I could handle waiting until Sunday if I absolutely had to, but I'm concerned about them running out before then. If I don't have any luck at the store, I guess I could try calling the national number to see if they'll do it and have it sent overnight. Fingers crossed!
 
It's a no-go for me. I went to two different vzw stores.

The first, they were complete dicks to me.. the guy at the entrance wasn't even paying attention to me, he was typing away on his phone and barely acknowledging my questions. He said there's absolutely no way I can go a week early.

I went to another, and they were real nice and took a look at my account.. they said my annual upgrade wasn't showing up in their system so they couldn't do it. I showed them an email I got from VZW customer service saying I'm eligible on 3/24, and they said it's correct, but since it hasn't populated their system yet or something they can't. Otherwise they would've been able to.

Sigh.

But, they gave me their card and told me to call them early next week and they can see if they can put one on hold for me when they get their next shipment in Monday.
 
Ok so I logged into my Verizon Wireless online account knowing that I am not eligible for an upgrade until 7/15/11. But right beside the picture of my current phone(Blackberry Storm 2) it says, "You are eligible for and early upgrade now." So I called *611. I asked the rep if I was eligible for an early upgrade and she said, "No, not until 7/15/11. Then I said, "Well I am online in my VZW account and it says I am." She went into VZW account online and said, "Oh, I see that. Well let me move your date up to today, please hold while I get a supervisor to make the changes." Then she comes back on and says, " The supervisor said it doesn't have to be changed. Just go into the store tomorrow and have them pull it up and they will let me upgrade. And If you have any problems, call us back here at *611 and we will have them honor it." Any thoughts?

Is 7/15 your NE2 date?

Because you are likely eligible for the annual upgrade at the moment, rather than the NE2.
