Can I use an SD card reader to transfer Spotify from Pixel 3a?

I am pretty much out of storage on my Pixel 3a. My Spotify songs are taking up a lot of storage space. I don't want to lose them, but I would rather not have to buy another phone either. I bought an SD card reader, but I am even sure that it will accomplish what I want. Has anybody been successful in moving their Spotify music to free up storage space? If so, how did you do it? Thank you for your time.

IF you can do it, once the reader is plugged in the app should find it and the settings will offer the option of allowing download to the SD card. However - I imagine you'll need the reader plugged in before you open the app every time.
