htc desire 510 byop plan in straight talk service

I bought a cricket HTC desire 510 from cricket wireless in Kansas. Used it for maybe about a year no pro lens. moved cross country where cricket does not exist. Checked straight talk out and they say I can get a SIM kit and everything will be fine. I unlock the HTC from cricket network using the code they gave me, inserted the new st SIM and set it up. At that point I could call and text just fine. then I connected to WiFi to set up apn stuff they say you need to do to have internet and mms. I had used the st website to do this and used the settings they provided. after much frustration and time spent I have up and called them. The man I talked to have me completely different apn settings that still did not correct the problem. I have since talked to several people and literally just ended a 3 hour call with no solution found resulting in them sending me a new SIM and basically saying it's not their problem it's my phone's problem. Here is my issue with that: the phone worked properly for the entirety of its life until I tried their service.
Things that don't work:sms, mms, Google play store.
Things that do work:calls-sent and received, internet, Facebook app, other apps that require data connection.
Other information that may or may not be relevent:st support asked me to backup and reset to factory settings and I tried to do so but when I get to he end of prompts and it should reset itself, it does nothing instead. I mean literally nothing, it's a blank screen.
Please help me.
