Can not access recovery mode

I have my phone rooted, boot loader unlocked and google wallet is working. However, I can not access my recovery mode as an android with a red exclamation mark pops up. I have searched the forum for an answer but all I have seen is 'change XML file'. I have no clue what those three words mean. Can someone please break this down for me?

I didnt think I was a noob, as I have rooted quite a few phones and flashed a few roms but maybe I still have much to learn in this great big Android world.... Any help is greatly appreciated.
