Can someone explain DCIM?

Hi, I'm new here. I was wondering how to get my pictures off my Droid X2 and on to my MacBook. I did it once before but I can't remember how I did it. I know it had something to do with DCIM. I don't know what that is either! Help!

DCIM stands for Digital Camera IM ages and is the folder located on your sd card, so when you have your phone connected to your computer(set as a drive) via USB you can transfer all your photos!
