im looking to pick one up used for my gf and just need a crash course on this phone. i was between this or the Droid 2. a few quick answers would be great. ive been doing my own research and will continue to do so. trying to ween her off of her out of date blackberry.

realistic battery life? my heavily modded atrix does pretty well since ive rooted it and running SetCPU. ill probably do the same to hers.

whats the latest official operating system this thing is running?? i may not want to mod the crap out of it for her. just want it to be easy to use and not be a battery hog.

anything else i should know before i get her this (bugs, issues, etc), lemme know

My stock battery, on stock 2.2.2 (ED05),gets me around 6-7 hours of moderately heavy use. I would recommend getting the seido extended battery for at least ten hours although it makes the phone almost twice as thick. Hmm,bugs...the phone can become a bit unresponsive sometimes but it doesn't happen too often. Also, it has bing so make good use of that google search widget. That's all my sleep deprived brain can think of right now.LOL

Probably smart to download a Alternate Launcher such as Launcher Pro, ADW, Go launcher EX to hide all the bloatware / Verizon apps and make general use of the phone quicker.

My gf went to a Droid2 from a curve....hated it.....I let her try my old storm.....hated it....now she is rockin the bold.....hates it....just not as much as the other phones....and yes battery life blows on these phones with the big colorful screens....

I just exchanged my fascinate for a droid incredible 2. Had the fascinate since November, came from Blackberry....loved the screen, had good battery life most days, form factor awesome, plus it was white and slim. But I never "loved" it. Got in on the exchange ride for missed calls and I have to say on day one with the Dinc2 I'm in love with it. Smooth, fast, no hangs, first day battery lasted me 14 hrs to 32%, second day better, loys of tinkering getting it how I wanted. So something to consider

I don't think 6-7 hours is a realistic or normal number...

With moderate use, you can typically get 10-12 hours, depending on the kernel/ROM. Undervolting can significantly increase that

I am stock with root on ed05 update & undervolted and I get about 10-12 hrs moderate to high usage when adjusting my settings (GPS, Brightness, etc)

When it comes to battery, your mileage WILL vary. It does seem surprisingly low though.. I had better battery life when I was running CM7

Easily 18 hour of battery with moderate usage. I could easily sit and play Angry birds for 8 hours on a single charge.

The Fassy is Light and slim with a gorgeous screen. (stock software has been wonky, but i only tolerated that for 1 month).Of all the phones Verizon offers, i would take the fassy over all others, even at the same price. The important things to me are:
Thickness
Weight
Battery life
Screen
Speed (not data speed, system speed) 4g is not important to me, it is just a battery killer.

The Fassy is at the top of most of these categories. (after it has been hacked to pieces :D)
