Can someone help me figure out how to do a hangout?

I guess I'm an idiot? Let's say my wife is at home on her laptop and wants to video call me on my gn. If I'm in her circle of friends and she clicks start a hangout, and what should happen next both on her pc as well as on my phone to get us video talking?

A couple of us did it on Saturday, but for the life of me I havent been able to replicate it. When we did it, it wasnt a simple thing.

I don't doubt that you can start/join a Google+ hangout this way, but I have a feeling this is not how it's intended to be used. Seems like there would be a more straight forward way of doing it.

1. Open Messenger
2. Invite friends to messenger chat room
3. Start video sharing
4. Result: A hangout has been created

You can't do this via G+ - at least not yet. You can only video hangout between mobile devices.

of course you can. either method outlined above works. either start the hangout from the pc and invite the mobile user or start a messenger chat from the mobile and invite the pc user. either way it works
