So I've rooted and even if I haven't when you set up a new phone it syncs with Google's GMail contacts so you don't have to enter all your info again. My question though is simple. Android has primary numbers and GMail doesn't. I figured the first number in my GMail contacts should become my primary number in Android? No? Or should I turn off syncing, do whatever I want in GMail contacts and then sync?

Basically I jst want my primary numbers to stay the same all the time. any help?

thanks

Get an ExportContacts by Rishi from the market, export your contacts import to your gmail account and then sync contacts on phone.

which way do contacts sync? if the phone and gmail have the same name different info then who wins?

I dont understand what you mean. Just export to the contacts to your SD card then hook up to your computer and put the .CSV file on your desktop. Then upload that file (import) to your contacts of the gmail account you use on your phone as the main address. the one you set the phone up with.

i mean my primary contacts get screwed up. i have my dad set up as a mobile number for primary and EVERY time I flash a new rom EVEN though in gmail the mobile number is set up first the home number gets set as a primary number

Oh well that shouldnt make more than 30 seconds to change tho.. Do you have one, few or like 30 of these that you would have to change?
