ROMs are always fun to have on your phone. Try putting one on. Recommend GingerBlur.

I'm a noob as well but I plan to root my new Android device soon after I pick it up tomorrow. My main reason for rooting will be to freeze the bloatware the inevitably will come pre-installed. I *hate* bloatware. Other main reason would be to be able to sideload non-market apps... for me at least.

Well, congrats on rooting your Atrix! :)

I dont even know how to freeze bloatware or install roms or themes where can I find instructions for this?

For all advanced rooting/hacking/ROMing/etc.....
Motorola Atrix 4G - xda-developers

Freezing bloatware requires Titanium Backup. I do not freeze anything on my phone, personal preference, phone is fast enough as is.....

ROMs and themes are pretty much the same thing on this phone due to it being locked down. Cutomize the appearance and a little tweak here and there. Not much but still nice way to customize to your preferences.

Following the instructions here will give you a good idea how to install themes/ROMs on the Atrix.

Last, before making any changes other than root, install CWM recovery at this link: [Release] Tenfar's CWM recovery for Motorola Atrix 4G (MB860) 2011-0408-1720 Updated! - xda-developers It allows a backup incase you make a change you don't like or screw something up.

The above link should be your "golden ticket". I followed the instructions verbatim and all worked well. There are instructions for GingerBlur install as well as just a basic root.

As said by a few other people in the thread, this (link above) is the ideal place to start.
