Can the Android Auto app be set for HUD?

Is there some setting I am missing - or some work around - to get the Android Auto app on my smart phone to work as a head-up display (HUD)?

I'm wanting to use it on a Scosche Smart HUD display. So I need the app to switch the phone's image into a reversed / mirror image of the normal display.
