Can the Samsung Gear Live Make Phone Calls?

I have been spending numerous amount of hours online trying to Google whether the new Samsung Gear Live can make and receive calls when its connected to the phone.

I had the Samsung Gear Neo and I could use that to talk to and hear the person I was talking to.
I sent that back because I was excited for Android Wear and orders the Samsung Gear Live and am now waiting to receive it.
I'll be really disappointed if I can't use it as a phone.

The Gear Live can answer, reject or respond (via hangouts or sms) to an incoming call, but you have to answer it from the phone and it apparently won't initiate calls. It's classified as "alerts only".

I am still getting it but I hoped that it would have this feature.

Do you see it coming later on with a software upgrade or is the hardware not there to make it happen.

It has no speaker, therefore the hardware simply doesn't support this.

You can initiate calls for contacts by saying "call___". I use this a lot, and get funny looks in public lol.

If you have a bluetooth headset hooked up too, you should be fine. You can initiate calls and never have to take out your phone because you can simply speak through the headset.
