Can the screen sensesitivity level be changed on a Samsung Galaxy J7?

The touch screen on my Samsung Galaxy J7, is not sensitive at all. To get it to respond, I have to tap the screen a lot harder than my old phone, a Samsung Galaxy S3. On that phone, the sensitivity level could be adjusted. I haven't found such a setting on the Galaxy J7. Is there a setting and I'm missing it? Is there a way to change the sensitivity level?

Do you have a screen protector on? Or did the phone come with a protective plastic film over the screen? The latter isn't meant to stay on -- make sure you peel that off.

I can see and feel with my fingernail, something that is the size of a protector, but it is stuck to the screen. I was not able to slide or lift up a piece of it.
