can the start up screen sound be turned off?

I really like the whole bolt thing, but I have a feeling it is going to get old. Anyone know if it can be turned off or changed? either the whole animation or just the sound?

the guy from wirefly who reviewed the phone before it came out had the same question

...he couldn't find a way to do it

If your phone is on vibrate or silent when you turn it off, when you power it on you won't hear it.

OK, I somewhat figured it out. if you turn down the media volume before turning the device off, it *almost * mutes the start up sound. you can still hear it, but just barely. settings-sound-volume-slide media volume all the way to the left-then hit OK.

When root is released we'll be able to get in and just delete the sound file altogether. And from the sound of it, root will be here within a few days:
