Can the v20's second screen be used for watching videos?

When I was in store a few months ago I saw a v20 on display, using the second screen to watch videos. I was wondering if this is possible if I were to buy one because I work with a lot of ultrawide footage

I'm not sure what you were looking at, but I doubt you were seeing video footage on the second screen. I've never seen or heard of this. Also keep in mind that the second screen is shorter than the main screen due to the front facing camera and a couple of sensors on the upper left corner. So even if it were possible to migrate part of a video to it, you'd still not get to see the entire thing.

Welcome to AC forums. You were not looking at video on the second screen. You were probably looking at the split screen view which is a muti-tasking feature in Nougat.

You may have seen a demo video loop in the store with a video playing a demo of the phone. You can't watch videos on the second screen. However, there is a media controller which shows the media track title/artist and pause/play, and skip track button. Hope that helps.

Theoretically you could play video in the second screen because it's actually part of the same screen. But to actually write the script for it well..... In asop roms they had the screen on and part of the whole screen before turning it off completely.

I'm not saying it would be anything worth seeing . I'm saying it could done. But there would be much coding I'm sure.

The original poster asked if you can watch videos on the second screen and physically as it comes out of the box you can't. Since he saw it in a store most likely he was referring to the split screen that is available because of Nougat. Since the OP has not come back we can only guess but I highly doubt he saw video in the secondary screen.

Snark aside, I had bank when it came out and all reports I saw were that it's two screens. With their own backlights and own display drivers. The separate display driver is likely true, as the second screen can be on independent of the main screen.

I assure you they are the same screen . If they were separated or different screens asop ROMs would most likely be able to use the second screen but they are one and the same screen. Check it out on XDA there are a few people working on getting it up and running on asop and akop ROMs . But they can't use LGs code they have to actually build it themselves.
And I said nothing with snark or anything like that intended. Just telling you what I know to be true. I'm running WETA Ron ATM and it's a modding stock ROM. I had Resurrection Remix on here but not having the second screen on that asop rom was not good. I like the second screen.

I know Samsung did but I don't recall LG. I didn't have it on the G5. Which LG models?
