Can we call it a pre-order fail yet?

8 GB ordered on June 28th....no accessories.

Multiple attempts to contact Google customer service to cancel, without success.

Google email on July 17th says all pre-orders orders placed before July 11th will "ship this week and be upgraded to next day air".

July 24th....receive a email stating that my order had shipped, coincidentally only hours after Google suggested that I fill out the online form to cancel my order.

No shipping activity until related to tracking number until Friday July 27th. Also shipping method is still listed as 2nd day air.

Called Google that night and speak to a rep. They said that my case would be escalated, and I would receive a call within 48 hrs. They also offered to refund my shipping costs, which I did not ask for.

Google never responded via email or phone within 48 hrs.

Delivery was scheduled for end of day July 30th.

Checked tracking again this afternoon, and it is rescheduled for end of day July 31st...3rd business day in shipping.

The only thing keeping me calm is I picked up a 16 GB from Gamestop on launch day.

I hope Google doesn't treat all of its customers this way!

It is weird.

I pre-ordered an 8 gig unit upon announcement. I even tried to cancel the order a few days later, to no avail (I simply couldn't find the button to do so).

I then went into the hospital for two weeks only to learn the device was shipping when I was discharged. It arrived on my doorstep that Tuesday, after being shipped on the 'Dirty' Friday.

I feel like I got away with something, honestly. The whole affair seemed entirely seamless to me. The woes of others have me doubting, but my experience was nothing but stellar.

I ordered on July 13 and received mine on the 17 that is only 2 business days from when I ordered. I can't say they failed but you sure can.

Wow, sucks to hear that. I ordered on July 24th, very early in the morning, and they shipped that very same day.

Two days later, BOOM, it's at my doorstep.

I pre-ordered on the 27th, pretty much as soon as it was possible. Very excited about the tablet. So naturally I was disappointed when people were walking into GameStops on the 13th picking up orders or able to get tablets without pre-orders at some other retailers that weekend and I had to wait until the 17th for my "pre-order".

Also disappointed that the tablet has a pogo connector and magnetic sensor, yet Google didn't even mention those features, much less ship any accessories that would use them. I would like to see a smart cover and dock for this tablet, seems like a smart way for Google or ASUS to make a little money off the hardware.

Unfortunately the lack of accessories isn't shocking, seems like every does this lately. Took Samsung 6 or 7 months to ship their pogo docking stations for the Galaxy Nexus (stupid thing arrived so late I lost interest in buying the $70 dock).

And it's certainly debatable, but I think there is a higher than normal defect rate with the screens on these tablets, either with the raised glass, washed out video, flickering screen, dead pixels, and over exposure after playing videos. Lots of weird quirks. Hoping this latest batch has fixed those issue. But certainly a disappointment for those still waiting for a defect free product.

All that said. The launch isn't a fail. Some of having to wait a few extra days is not good, but it's not fail either. The defects aren't good, but it only sucks for those that got the defects, which I hope is a minority that are defective enough to dissatisfy their owners.

Not a success, not a fail, just a little bit bumpy.
