Can you change where app folders open at

I've recently began customizing my Moto X and have run across an appearance issue y'all might be able to help with. I have folders on the bottom row of my home screen and a couple of icons on the second row. I would like to make it so that when I tap and open the folders, it opens to the center of the screen where there are no icons, instead of directly above the folder preview, where it interferes with the second row icons. I'm using apex launcher with clear folder backgrounds, which makes the overlapping icons really annoying.

Thanks for any help

I don't think you can. The folder opens directly above where the icon for it is. If you were to switch the rows, that would prevent them from overlapping
