Can you get rid of buttons on bottom of screen

So, I briefly had an LG V20, and it let me hide the soft buttons (home, back, etc) when I was using most apps. so they didn't take up the screen when I was on the internet, texting, emailing etc. However, I cant figure out how to do it on this phone, so the 3 buttons take up real estate. Is there a setting I missed, or a workaround?

Or you can just download the app GMD immersive and use that. You have to go for the pro version if you want the navigation bar to be totally invisible when hidden though.
