Is it possible to install a custom rom on the evo with just stock android 2.1 (2.2 if possible). I was using my friend's droid today and I noticed how much more responsive stock android is compared to sense. If not does anyone have any ideas on how to reduce the lag? Thanks.

Sure all you have to do is disable the sense ui and it is stock android i believe. It is in the setting somewhere. You can also download "Home Switcher" from teh market. it is free and gives you the ability to switch back and forth with ease.

I've heard that Sense kinda screws with bluetooth on past HTC phones (like the Hero), does disabling the Sense UI and using regular android restore that? Or has the Android OS been hobbled to work on the Evo?

You cannot fully disable Sense UI.

You can turn off the Sense LAUNCHER in favor of the stock or a third party launcher, but Sense UI is fully ingrained into the stock Evo ROM.

I'd actually like to be able to run the fully stock android on my phone just to see the difference.

Yeah I am aware of the fact that there is no way to disable Sense on the stock Evo rom. However, does anyone know of any roms available that would run on the Evo that is basically just stock Android?

you are gonna have to root your evo and start using something like cyanogen, enomothers, or even the stock 2.1 ROM. i'm not sure any ROMs exist yet for the evo in the rooting world. but should be shortly.
