I updated to 2.2 this morning and it's running smooth. I want to root it again so i can use set cpu and wireless tether. I've tried several times to use unrevoked 3
and it refuses to reflash. When i did it the first time (i had 2.1) it was quick and simple.
Anyone elese having this problem is there a solution

Do you have S-off? Then its easy

Go to step 5.

If you don't have S-OFF, says S-ON, then

here u go buddy.

[GUIDE] How to downgrade from OTA RUU 2.2 to 2.1 - xda-developers

how do you know if you have S-ON or S-OFF, you would of installed unrevoked forever. You can also tell by powering down your phone, then turning it back on, but first press and hold the optical button while you hold the power button. Then look at the top of the screen in hboot for it to say S-OFF or S-ON

You cant root once you go 2.2 XDA had directions on how to root then do 2.2 but once you are 2.2 without root the only option is to downgrade then do it the right way. Downgrading is a pain but the directions are on the XDA site.

Can someone please tell me why I should root? I was thinking of rooting before the OTA, because I wanted to put the leaked 2.2 on my Dinc, but now that the file is out (Never got the OTA, but used the link posted today to upgrade), I have what I wanted. What will rooting give me that VZW is holding back? I have no need to tether, and I'm pretty happy with the phone. I could overclock, but will it give me that much more speed? Can it drastically improve battery life? I understand what rooting is but I have not found a big reason to do it now that I have Froyo.

Why Root?

1. Custom ROMs
2. Themes
3. Remove bloatware (ie CityID, Amazon MP3, Skype, VZW Navigator, visual voicemail)
4. Backup and restore system states
5. Root access is required by some apps.
6. Overclocking

There are tons a reasons why

The Dinc is my first Android phone. Will a process be developed for gaining root for 2.2? I didn't have root before the update. But now that VZW has added even more bloat, I am ready to get rid of it.
