can you store downloaded music on sd card

I download alot of music on my htc android desire phone I have figured out how to move most apps onto my sd card but I cannot figure out how to move my music onto the sd card and now my phone memory is used up and I only have a few apps installed but I cannot update them because my memory is used up. Can you please help me figure out how I can keep all my music but still be able to download and update apps when I need to.

Re: can you store downloaded music on sd card

Welcome to Android Central! Are you downloading the music from Google Play Music, or some other music site? In order to save downloaded music from your Google Play library to the SD card, you need to look for an option for that in the app's settings. Open Google Play Music, swipe in from the left, tap Settings>Storage Location, and choose External. If you download music from Google Play directly to your phone, you can't use your file manager to directly manipulate it, since it gets saved under a coded filename in a hidden directory.
