can you upgrade to cwm3.1.0.1 direct from cwm2.5.1.0?

I am trying to get ready for the gingerbread update/upgrade.

Can not find answer anywhere, so my question: can you upgrade to cwm3.1.0.1 which seems needed to root Gingerbread directly from cwm2.5.1.0 or must I do an incremental upgrade to cwm3.0.2.5, and then upgrade to cwm3.1.0.1? Or must the root be "after" the Gingerbread update/upgrade? Or should I wait a little longer to see if there is a one step no dataloss upgrade to a prerooted Gingerbread.

I am trying to find the correct sequence of steps.

I currently am rooted via cwm2.5.1.0 on a stock ec05 odexed rom and kernel.

Just run one click root 3.0.2.5 over your current set up. Then flash the update to 3.1.0.1 through clockwork.
