I have a USB-C flash drive. I was under the impression you could use it for storage like a micro sd card. Put it in and it ask me if I want Insta 360 (program for my action cam) to open it, but I don't see anywhere where its an actual storage device?

If you go to the my files app, it should be available as USB storage. If not it may be formatted in a format that the phone does not read.

My knowledge is based on my S21 ultra, but I can't see any reason the S22 ultra would be any different.

It's formatted as FAT32

I have seen other people mention that they can't access fat32 formatted devices full stop.. is it possible to format it to something else? Like NTFS or exfat?

OK so I formatted NTFS on the PC moved it to phone and it said it was read only because it was NTFS. So I let the phone format it. I was able to move a photo onto it. Put the flash drive into my PC and it sees the photo. The phone formatted the drive as exfat. So I guess the trick is to format it exfat and it should be good. Thanks for the tip

Android requires exFAT, any storage device with that format should work.
