Quite simply, I currently have a software update scheduled for later this week and I rather avoid it for now. Is there any way to cancel this update? Thank you.

Oh, sorry. It's a Samsung Galaxy A32. I go to Software update in Settings, and the only option seems to be "download and install." There's no "kill" (or at least delay) button?

That screen looks similar to mine, except for no "auto download" option. Is that the problem? If so, any idea why it's not there for me? Because even on your screen, it looks like that's the only thing that can be toggled off.

Carrier versions/unlock version/international or US version vary in having this , This on my s23u US unlock version

So as long as you don't tap download software there it won't trigger it to happen for some time but if you do than as it downloads to the device it will give option install now or postpone

My screens like Mustangs, I always turn download automatically over Wi-Fi off... and since it never downloads the update it has to keep asking me if I want to download and install it... I just keep saying later until I'm ready to install. So far it's never installed without my permission. I'm not sure if I've just been lucky ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't believe it will force the download and install over your phone's data connection, because Sammy doesn't want to rack up data charges without your permission if you have a limited data plan.

I forgot to mention my phone is also factory unlocked like Mustangs and I'm in the US as well... I'm guessing that's why we have the option to turn off the auto download over wi-fi.

Just to quickly add on to, and I guess end this thread want to say that my phone did, in fact, update against my wishes. Even after turning off both WiFi and mobile data. So, I guess that the answer to my original question is (at least sometimes), no, there's no way to cancel a scheduled update. Which I actually think is pretty incredible.

Too late now, but if you boot the phone into recovery and clear the cache partition, that *used to* wipe out a downloaded update. Probably won't work anymore on devices using A/B partitions, but Samsungs don't use that.

Like Fuzzy mentioned, your phone had already downloaded the update, so it didn't need any kind of network connection to install it 😞

But you could go into the recovery menu like he also mentioned, and wipe the cache partition as soon as you get notified of a pending update before it has a chance to install 😉 What I used to do with my Pixels (you couldn't wipe the cache partition) was to not leave them on and charging while connected to wi-fi, that's when they would automatically update.

At least Windows used to give you the option to turn off updates permanently, and only update what you wanted. I miss those days 😧
