Hello,

I'm planning on getting rid of Sprint service cause I'm so tired of their bad network, but I want to keep my EVO 3D using it with WiFi.

My question is, if I cancell the service plan, will I be able to get the ICS update through WiFi or I need to have an active account with Sprint??

Thanks!

You should still get the update. My Nexus One got updates when it was wifi only. If not, there is usually someone who will post the update.zip link for the update. Then you can download it and manually apply it via recovery.

at that point u should root. it will guarantee further support into the future. since ROMS will be made based on the update. it will also ensure that u will get jellybean in the future since HTC is likely to never update it on their end.

People are already working on JB/CM10.

I think JB and cm10 are a far cry for running on this phone at this point in development. Ics isn't even completely functional and cm9 is still having some major issues also.

All ICS Roms based on the VM leak are fully functional, even more functional than gingerbread. (used them all, and AOSP)

CM9 got 4G last week, and expect CM10 to have it as well.

BUT the OP doesnt need it to work as a phone on sprint anymore and thats why it matters alot less which ROM he has on.

Jelly Bean has some great new features and UI speed that only the silly amongst us will ignore.

It's VM source and I've used them all and they don't have the feel as the sprint source GB roms have.
