Hubby bought me a new "rugged" phone (I'm a techie-phobe thug) its a homtom ht20. It has Android 6.0 in it. My sim is with uk based o2 and I'm on pay and go tariff, i live in bulgaria part time, where i was/am when recieved the phone.
I cannot access mobile data on it, only wifi. I have enabled data roaming in every box i can find, i can see on the status bar 3g & R/H/E which I'm assuming means i have signal. My husbands traffic is working to back up the reception theory.

I have used this plan with o2 on my previous phones and it works fine, if i remove the sim from this and return to my old phone, traffic works.

What have i done wrong? Please help. (My thing is horses and disabilities, I'm really useful in those fields, here, I'm swimming in tar).

Thank you

Have you tried contacting your carrier? There may be special settings they need to talk you through so your phone can communicate with their towers.

I did contact o2, their sage advice was to remove the sim, reboot the phone and reinsert the sim. Well, it was a lot of fun taking out the 10 midget screws and the waterproof membrane but it didn't change a thing.
However, now an independent enthusiast has suggested I might not be a complete twit, I'll contact them again. My thanks

O2 uses 800MHz for 4G. Bulgaria uses 1900MHz for 4G. So no 4G in the UK.

Both O2 and Bulgaria (they seem to use the same bands for all carriers) use 900/2100MHz for 3G, so you may be able to get 3G data (assuming that O2 is still using 3G for data where you are - if they aren't, you won't.)

I understand you. I had the same problem in last year with my local mobile provider.
Think that you should to write in support, but it isn't a solution in 80%. I am digital designer and work on freelance. Mobile data and of course my telephone are very important for work, because not everywhere I can bring my laptop with me. In telephone I have all copies of my projects. I have to enter in internet in every point of world. When I recognized that problem with mobile data is from my provider, I wanted to change it. And I find a very pleasant company where you can select the best mobile provider in UK for your telephone. Also usave will help you to select gadgets and will return you cashback. I think it is really cool. Not forever technical support helps in this really serious problems. Take my advice.
