Cannot be secure and backup

Now this might be peculiar. I have the new pixel 4 XL, 128gb, running on Verizon. I cannot use the face lock or pin and have it back up. I am also using Action Launcher. I would love to be able to use a pin but I would also I get back up. Thoughts are solicited. Google had no idea.

Update, the issue appears to be Launcher agnostic.

If you don't mind (and can - Verizon may disallow it) unlocking the bootloader, and don't mind waiting a bit, when TWRP comes out for the 4 (it will), you can install TWRP and back everything up at once. (And if you run Tipatch on TWRP, you back up /sdcard, your personal data too. (No, it;s not the SD card, which would be /extSdCard - which Pixels don't have, it's what you see when you look at your internal storage.)

Final update, Google support was just super and they are sending me a brand new pixel 4 XL 128gb in white. It appears that there's simply a problem with one of the chips on the phone.
