Cannot connect to WiFi when on the bus

[Android Central Question]

I ride the bus to work, and when traveling along a stretch near a university with dozens of shops with WiFi, it's almost impossible to connect to the bus's WiFi. It seems like my phone is giving more priority to trying to update the numerous outside sources as they change (as the bus moves) rather than just connecting to the one source that hasn't moved relative to me. I usually cannot get on the bus WiFi until we get on the highway.

I would attribute this to the bus WiFi being of poor quality, except that my windows laptop can always connect without issue, right away.

Does anyone know of a setting I can adjust to help with this?

There's not much you can do , besides use data .

Au contraire - au contraire, I tell you - my phones try to connect whenever a bus passes me in the street. As @mustang says, there isn't much you can do.
