cannot get adb to work!??

i had this working before,but ever since the unrooting thread mentioned to uninstall htc sync, ive had not been able to get this to work.

it will either tell me the device is not found or i get $

someone help asap please!

im not rooted,im using a new phone and trying to downgrade to 2.1.

this is so god damn irritating.

Step 7: Ok now for the root shell.

(still in adb shell)

./rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
You will now see some text on your cmd prompt screen explaining the exploit.

Step 8: Wait for the adb shell to go away, and it will dump you into your windows command prompt again (no shell) should look something like this:

C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>

If it dumps you to a $ instead, repeat those 2 commands again and try toggling airplane mode.

Step 9: Once that dumps you out of the shell, type

and you will see you now have a

Instead of a

Step 10:

cd /data/local
./flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd-eng.img
-That will flash your misc partition with Toast's mtd-eng.img.

This should return you to a blank line with #.

If you get an "Out of memory error" with a huge list of weird lines, here's how to fix it.

Reboot your phone normally.
Open] a command prompt and go backwards in this guide until you see the big red * and start from there.

Who said to uninstall htc sync? In the steps it tells you to install htc sync...

i cant push the files to local, permission denied,

i cant do anything unless these files are pushed to the local temp
which gets my permission denied.

i never had these damn problems before.

I literally just did this It was super easy man


Make sure Debug is on and you have Sync installed

after all is said and done DELETE SYNC

Done and done, I'll try this all one more time but it didn't work before when I did this.

i just couldnt get it done,
then my laptops fan decided to go out and it kept over heating..

so i just gave up and went the unrevoked route on a old dusty desktop i had in my closet with a celeron D

lol.

lol i know!

and at the same my laptops fan broke and it overheated so thats down until i order the replacement parts..

so i couldnt continue with that adb and i seen how easy it would be so i just said screw it and went with unrevoked...

i mean i had just unrooted and rerooted my old evo like 2 days before, so i dont understand all of a sudden why it wouldnt find the device?

its not like im a noob at this, so its beyond me lol, maybe the laptop decided to break on its own before i myself blew a fuse! LOL
