Cannot get my PC to connect to phone with USB

A few days ago it worked perfectly. I than rooted my phone made some mistakes and had to install a new factory stock rom with the Zv9 update. The phone is not rooted at the moment. Now whenever I try to connect it to the PC with a usb cable it says that the device is an unrecognized device. I have used the LG mobile support tool and installed usb drivers and this did not fix the problem. Whenever I plug it in I do not even recieve the option to mount unmount sd card. I have factory reset my phone and this did not fix the problem. Thanks for any assistance even if it is just a simple reference to another source of how to fix this problem.

you may need a new usb cable or possibly a replacement v from virgin mobile. the micro port on the v is flimsy at best and repeated use causes the port to become damaged. windows will usually continue to charge it but it wont recognize it as a useable device. try another cable if you have one,if that fails you may want to call virgin mobile and tell them your phones usb port isnt working. they'll replace it if your warranty is still valid.

So you think it has to do with the actual port inside the phone rather than possibly some software or something to recognize the usb? It was working fine until I had to install the stock rom with the zv9 yesterday after that it was no longer sensing the usb adapter. Thanks again for your help!

Mine was doing that with my desktop and I ended up having to use my laptop computer instead.

A few weeks later my desktop wouldn't turn on and I had to replace the power supply. Now it works fine with my phone.

Try it on another computer or through an externally powered usb hub before condemning the phone.

your welcome,and yeah im guessing its the internal port on the phone,if using another cable still doesn't work its probably the phone port. considering you did try it on various pc's with no detection,id bet its either the phone cable or the phone itself (meaning the phones micro usb port,not zv9..it worked fine via usb for me).

Yeah I was definetly overthinking this problem. It was simply a faulty USB cable.

i have a similar problem. my OV will charge by a wall charger, but when i plug it into a laptop it doesn't charge or recognize it as a usb drive. My girls OV works just fine. any ideas?

Replace the cable first
If then nothing, its the actual port as curtis mentioned.
