Question Cannot log into BBC apps

Hi

Since a couple of days ago i cannot log in to any BBC app such news or weather. I cleared SSL certificates on my s21 ultra due to another issue around then and don't know if related.

All i get now is the screen that says login or register. Regardless which option i choose i just get a new white screen with a black bar at the top that says BBC account. I have attached a screen shot.

I have updated to latest android OS.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the apps.
Cleared cache and data.

And still the same.

Any ideas how to fix?

If you try on a web browser (on your phone), does it load correctly? If not, check if there are any firewall, vpn, or DNS settings that may be preventing traffic from BBC from loading.

OK on Chrome on my phone it doesn't load and i get a white said. So i was thinking it might be what you advised. However on androids own browser it is working normally.

According to my setting my DNS settings were on automatic. I turned it to off and the app and chrome still won't work but android browser does. I don't have a VPN or a firewall as far as ha can see.

Can you try clearing Chrome's cache/data? If Chrome is your default browser, try changing it (temporarily) to the stock one and see if that lets you log into the app.

Actually i reset all wifi and mobile network settings. Restarted phone and chrome now works. However the BBC apps are the same. It says sign in or register and them once clicked it is the white screen that just says BBC account at the top.

Have you tried other networks? (i.e. not WiFi, just mobile or a different WiFi)

Now that Chrome is working, have you tried clearing data on the BBC app (or uninstalling/rebooting/re-installing)? What about changing the default browser to the stock one, did you try that at least just to get the sign-in?

Hi

I have made a shortcut to the BBC news website via chrome and that works. I have even signed in with that. Also the android browser works too.

But any BBC app whether it's news, weather, sport or Iplayer just fails after first screen. Deleting cache and data makes no difference. Also tried using mobile data and WIFI. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you need to report it to the BBC App devs, then... out of ideas here on the phone itself
