I recently decided to download the app "Seal" again. There are many changes to the app since I last used it, and I've noticed some instability since installing. I can't uninstall because removing as administrator doesn't seem to work for this app. I've tried many searches and contacted the dev with no reply. I have a rooted optimus running reborn Rom. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And if that doesn't work I think you could just use a root explorer, go to system/apps and manually uninstall it there

You need to go to security and then device administrators.

Uncheck seal then you can uninstall.

I've tried titanium backup and Rom toolbox pro. Both let me select delete/uninstall then hang until I force close them.

Uncheck seal then you can uninstall.

This was the first thing I tried. I press the button to deactivate, get the pop-up warning and select ok, then nothing and I'm right back to square one.

I didn't bother with a backup beforehand since I'd used the app before. So it'd be a hassle to set my phone back to my last nandroid. I'll probably just leave it and freeze it until I'm ready to try a new rom. At this point I'm more curious as to why I can't delete it.

But thanks for the suggestions anyway. I should probably lurk less and post more. Think I've learned more here then highschool

Have you moved to sdcard? I have had a few not want to uninstall when not stored on internal. Also try booting to recovery and wiping cache and dalvik cache. Then see if it will uninstall.

This app doesn't allow moving to sd card for security reasons. I've also wiped cache from recovery for other purposes since having this issue, it doesn't help though.

It seems the app won't let me remove it as an administrator, and that's why it won't delete. The only way I know is through the settings menu. This app seems to have locked itself in there. Are there any other ways to remove an app as a device administrator?

one method i can think of:
open a file manager, navigate to /data/app, and locate the filename of seal-lite.
boot into recovery, mount data, then open an ADB shell
type the following:
Code:
su
cd /data/app
ls
find the app filename, highlight it, right-click-copy, type "rm", then right-click-paste. it should kind of look like
Code:
rm com.something.something.apk
wipe dalvik, cache, and reboot.

Ugh this happened to me with the Avast antivirus app a long time ago. It was a bug with that app where it wouldn't let you remove the Administrator privileges from it, therefore making it impossible to uninstall.

IIRC, I couldn't find a fix, got fed up messing with it, and wiped and reinstalled my rom...lol.
