Cannot send pictures in text messages with sms or hangouts on Samsung S5 Jap version

I purchased the Japanese version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 by mistake for use in Australia. Wasn't looking properly. Anyway managed to get it working here but a lagging issue the inability to send MMS via Hangouts or the installed sms app on the phone. I can't even see where to find a link to the gallery in the sms app that was on the phone. Any assistance would be great. Driving me nuts.

Which of the 2 Japanese network specific models do you have, (see #1.5 of 41 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide), and which Australian network are you on?
