Cannot use Factory Reset

Hi all I have been having a problem with my 3 day old Captivate. First I was able to install apps now I keep getting install unsuccessful. Well since it's new I decided to do a reset. But I get an error message that says" No reset was performed because the System Clear service is unavailable". Anyone heard of this and how do I fix it?

Are you using any task killers, or have you stopped any services?
