Can't access keyboard option for text messages

[Android Central Question]

Hello! I am using a Fossil smartwatch with Android Wear 2.0. I am using Verizon's Messages+ app on my phone for my SMS. I can't seem to get the keyboard option to type a reply to come up with the Messages + on my watch - does anyone know if this app is not able to use the keyboard option?

no replies yet?... fwiw, I had to download the keyboard separately, even using android messages. It doesn't come automatically. I am also on verizon, but I dont use their app for texting. The handwriting keyboard is awesome... imho its the best thing about AW 2.X.

I just received a smartwatch for Christmas. It has been updated to 2.0 software. I have downloaded the handwriting keyboard because I read so many good things about it; however, when I go to reply to a text or compose a text (I am also using messages+), I do not have the option to use a keyboard. I can only do voice to text, auto reply or reply using phone. Any idea what I can do so I can reply using the keyboard? TIA!

Is there any reason you HAVE to run Verizon message+? I use Android messages and deactivate Verizons. I have had other problems with AW 2.0... but the keyboard has been the one bright spot for me.

Thanks for the response! No particular reason I'm using that app, just happens to be the one I started using when I got the phone. I will check out the android app. Thanks again!
