I just lost my job and can't afford my bill this month. I have wifi at home and have groove IP. Will I be able to still use that app when my service runs out to make calls on my optimus v?

you can use Wifi and any app that runs over Wifi even without service.

wifi is NOT 3G data, so yea.. should work, unless you cant pay your home internet bill either.

These be hard times, it happens. Google Voice saved my ass when I couldn't afford my phone, because if nothing else there were public libraries and friends / neighbors / payphones to call people back. You can use it over WiFi just fine.

If you can - before your bill lapses port your number over to google voice - that way people can still call that number and leave VM's they can even text you. Now via wifi your phone is still literally a phone and no one will even know that you are not over cell towers.

Later on when you get service back just forward whatever number they give you then to google voice and your number will never change - it will just auto forward to google voice. FREE (might cost a littl $ to port the #)

You still have I think 30 days to reactivate. Just in case you find a job by then

Last I knew it was 90 days from when you're account goes "past due," and as long as you top up anytime in those 90 days, your account stays active (and keeps the grandfathered pricing if you have it).

After 90 days of no payment at all, then your account gets closed and you lose your number.

So if you need to, maybe gather up $25/$35 every 3 months, just to keep your account from being deleted?

Well this was back in the summer when they had just introduced the new pricing changes, as I remember I was going to be short one month and posted on their facebook.

I just recently let my account go for more than 30 days but when I "topped up" yesterday it was still only $25.

look a few posts up and note that i suggested a free or near free method tha not only lets you keep your number but also keep taking calls with no cell bill.

this beats the crap out playing the "if i pay a little my account wont lapse" game. work smarter not harder brother
