My s8, I can make calls, but can't answer them. When phone rings, I select answer, then it immediately hangs itself up. Any ideas?

Maybe try installing the Google dialer and set it as the default app for calls? At least then you could tell if it was a hardware or software issue.

There is no reason for this to be happening, nor should you have to download a dialer to make it work.

If you have recently received a large update, I would recommend doing a factory reset, you can use smart switch by Samsung to backup all of your data, it Puts everything pretty much back the way it was when you restore from the backup.

Your phone is under warranty, if the factory reset doesn't work. I would have it looked at by a Samsung specialist!

Same issue for me. I have 2 regular s8's and one s8+ (wife, son and me) all three are having the same issues. Call rings, I hit answer and the call drops. If anyone finds a solution please share! Oh and before anyone else mentions to do this yes did prl update , yes did profile update, yes restarted, yes reset, ain't my first rodeo. I'm looking for an actual person that have fixed the issue to tell how, not someone to just split tech support scripted bs. Thank you.

Same issue here. A temporary fix is available. Go to settings > general management > reset. You get four choices here. If you select "Reset settings," it resets all settings of the phone to default. This is not a factory data reset. It doesn't touch your data.

It worked for me. However, who wants to leave all settings at their defaults? Not me.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Weird a phone main function is about making and receiving calls...i dont understand y s8 has soo many bugs where s7 edge was superb...

Update: same problem happened again two days after I reset settings as described above. I tried update prl, update profile, ##72786 #, turning phone off and on-- nothing worked.

sprint tech support wanted me to take the phone to a sprint so-called "repair" center. I thought about that, but I wouldn't want to let the phone out of my hands without a factory data reset.

so, I did the factory data reset, at home. it's been five days now, with no problems. I've resisted the temptation to uninstall any of the Sprint crap-ware that came with the phone. maybe that made a difference. maybe not. stay tuned.

S8 did an automatic software "upgrade" on 24 March 2019. Since then I can't answer incoming calls! Tried reset, don't want to mess around with a factory reset. How hard is it to have a phone that you can use as a phone? Thanks for the downgrade Samsung!

I have the same problem as JoNahNah. This v9 upgrade really sucks. I’ve gone through all settings and changed the new swipe to the previous settings. I’ve also done a restart. I simply cannot anwer any incoming call. I am out of my wits to solve this. If snyone has a solution, please share.

Me as well. I have a Galaxy S9+. As often as this seems to be happening to everyone, I would think there would have to be a fix somewhere. It sucks when I can't answer any of my phone calls and then have to call the person right back. I never had any issues with my Galaxy S4, S6 or S8+, but my S9+ has been nothing but problems from the get-go.
