Can't answer phone on bluetooth when in car

I just started having this problem today. I have a Galaxy S8 that is connected to my car by Bluetooth. I can make calls using the Bluetooth but when I have an incoming call in my car, I can't answer it. The phone doesn't ring but I can see on the screen that there is an incoming call. My car shows that there is an incoming call but when I push the button to answer it, the phone won't answer. The phone screen looks like I should be able to answer it but when I slide the green button, it does nothing. Then I get a message that something is not responding and asks if I want to close it or wait. Neither of those buttons work. My phone won't do anything but the screen looks like there is an incoming call for several minutes. I can't even turn the phone off during that time. Does anybody have any suggestions for me? This is driving me crazy.
