Can't assign photos to contacts in Samsung Galaxy S6 ?

Hello all

Currently using Samsung Galaxy S6, so a bit behind the latest models, however.......

when I open up a contact in order to assign a photo to it, there is no camera icon.

Alternatively, when I go to Gallery to set a photo as a contact picture, no contact list appears to select the relevant one.

I've checked Contact permissions in App Manager and the camera permission is ON.

I've exported the contacts (SIM) to the device, thinking that was the problem but nothing has changed.

Don't know where the problem lies.......have tried google but am stuck at this point - any suggestions please ?

Is there a + button beside Name line when editing a contact? That's how I assign photos for contacts.
