I just installed Froyo Build DK17, but didn't install the Odin1.6 first.
When my phone rebooted, there was no Sprint service.
I rebooted to Clockworkmod, wiped everything, and tried restoring a backup from yesterday. Now when rebooting, I hear that Samsung reboot sound, but the Samsung logo freezes on the screen. Phone never boots now.
I take the battery out, wipe everything again, and tried to reboot with factory default, but same problem.
Any ideas how I can get the phone back to stock?????
HELP!!!!!

How can I do that if I don't have phone service? Will wifi allow me to download what I need?

can you connect phone to computer? if so download a 2.2 kernal to your sd card on phone and install using clockwork, like you did with the rom make sure debug is off and choose mass storage on phone when connecting

If the back up you were trying to install is a version other than froyo. You can install a 2.1 kernel for that version to work. That may be your best option i will get link for you

you have to flash a 2.1 kernal to be able to go back in restore your 2.1 rom. I ran into the same problem.

But to get your serivce back on 2.2, just flash the radio with odin like the thread you looked at over at xda said you need to do.

I was finally able to fix my problem! Here's what I did:
In the 2.2 ROM (with no phone service), I was able to push a new ROM.zip file to the SD, and flash that back to 2.1. There I was able to run Odin to flash the kernel, and ultimately get 2.2 on my phone. Thanks for all the help!

You actually can use Odin to flash kernels. I did it with my brother's Fascinate to get him a ROM Manager-friendly kernel so he could flash Clockwork using Rom Manager.
