Anyone else out there have a problem with getting their stock sounds to change for notification or ring tone? I can pick any other sound in settings to change and it won't change. Strange.

No issue here.

Are you using the stock sound picker, or a 3rd party one?

Trying to use the stock.

If I use 3rd party, I can get it to change, but not through the settings. Have to do it directly from a third party app....Really odd.

When you go through the process, are you able to select one of the other preinstalled tones, and if so, does it play a sample for you?

Are you trying to change it to a custom tone, or just another preinstalled tone?

Yes, I can select other tones and hear the previews, but then when I go back, the tone isn't changed.

Make sure you saved changes before exiting. I can customize ringtones for all my contacts and default for those are not customized.

After you select the new ringtone, are you tapping the left-facing arrow at the upper left of the screen? If you select a ringtone and then just tap Home or use the Home gesture, it won't save.

Correct. I am tapping the back arrow at the top of the screen. I thought maybe i was missing some other confirm button or something, but I guess not.

And just to be sure -- this is with preinstalled tones, and not custom tones you created or downloaded, right?

Try clearing cache in recovery and sometimes going into safe mode then back out fixes little glitches

Anyone know how to change the notification sound? I downloaded 3 mp3s that I used on my old phone. I changed the ringtone but can't find the mp3 that I downloaded in the notification selections. Is there a special folder I need to put the mp3 in so it will show up in notifications selection area?

Thanks

For notifications, put the sound file in the directory called /Notifications. For ringtones, use /Ringtones.

After you download the MP3, place them in the Ringtones folder.

Clearing cache didn’t help, but if I boot into safe mode I can use the stock sound picker to change sounds and they actually take. Then when I get out of safe mode, the same problem ensues. At least I can change the stock sounds in safe mode I guess, and they do stick even when I reboot out of safe mode.

I also cleared the data and cache for the secsoundpicker, but that didn’t work either. Something is definitely causing abnormal behavior, just don’t know what yet.

You mentioned you have a 3rd party sound picker -- which one, Zedge? Try uninstalling that.

Bingo. Was a file viewer app called Amaze that I had installed, which also worked with sounds on phone. Removed that and it works. Also have zedge, but that is ok. Now fixed. Thanks all.

Glad B. Diddy was able to follow-up
