can't change text notification sound S9+

[Android Central Question]

upgraded my poor self to an S9+ and the individual option to change tones in messaging is there, but not highlighted to use. not in main settings, but in text menu

Just looked st my s9. In the text msg menu, went to Customize, then Notifications, then can select sound.
Works every time to change sound.
