Hey there, i also found the same problem in my gmail account few days back. 1st ly i tried to clear history manually of all time, then cleared each search item manually by holding it and deleting it. Lastly i cleared all web and app activities from google account-privacy and info section. ALL THESE METHODS FAILED. YES DESPITE OF ALL THESE STEPS I WAS STILL SEEING THE SEARCH HISTORY IN GOOGLE TYPING BAR; CENTRE ONE. THE TYPED ITEMS WERE STILL THERE. So i tried googling the issue to find solution and i reached over this page. I read all the replies to this issue and tried it one by one once again. At last i found out 1 working solution to it.Yes it's working. The solution is;
1)Whatever the search history gets collected in that google centre typing bar can be only deleted by Google search bar widget on your phone app if unable to delete it by all trials above said.
2) Go to google search widget bar on your phone. Tap on that search bar. You will see the search histories/items that you had manually typed.
3) Hold one of that search topic/item. Select delete.
4)This is the place where you can see that particular item actually deletes from all of your google accounts/devices; Yes it actually does as i checked it in web browser, that item was deleted from my whole list and from my chrome app as well.
5). I think this issue arises due to may be some syncing error between web and app activities or may be when we delete all time browsing history by selecting all ticks in basic and advanced history section. Ticking all includes hosted app data and media licenses that gets affected. And due to it i think this happens.
Google needs to work on this as this issue has came back once again after 1 or 2 years.
