Can't connect my Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to my PC

I just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 7 pre-order, and every time I try to connect it to my Windows 10 PC I get the dreaded "USB device not recognized" error. I've completely uninstalled the drivers, wiped all existence from the drivers from the registry, downloaded the most current Samsung drivers from the Samsung website, installed SmartSwitch and let it reinstall the drivers, etc. And I'm using the cable that came with the phone. I'm not sure what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you swipe down from the notification bar and select mtp?

I actually figured it out. Apparently, the cable doesn't like USB 3.0. When I tried one of my USB 2.0's, it worked perfectly. So odd!

I was having the same problem and noticed when I logged in to my phone I got a tab from the notifications bar "File Transfer Tap here for more options". When I tapped it I got a "Use USB for" menu. When I chose the "File Transfer" option, I was able to access my Note 7 like an external drive.
