Can't connect to camera

I'm new to rooting and custom roms. Yesterday I tried a few custom roms. I finally settled on Candy5. It's based on CM and from what I've read, CM pretty much always as camera problems. The camera works when it wants to work. Can't record video at all. Is there anyway to fix this? I don't want to switch to a new ROM. I really like this one.

Contact the ROM developer. If the ROM has problems connecting to the camera, it has to be rewritten.

Hi there, saying that CM always has camera issues is a bit inaccurate. A couple of things; if you're using an unofficial ROM based off of CM, chances are that there are modifications that have been applied to the build that may be causing issues. The only way to test this is to flash a different ROM to see if the Camera issue persists. Next, don't rule out a hardware issue, again this can be tested by flashing a different ROM to see if the Camera still has issues.
