Can't connect to computer

I just got my LG last week and I have been trying to connect to my computer all day without luck. I followed the directions in the user guide and connected my pnone to my laptop with the supplied USB cable, but nothing appears in my notification window. My computer recognizes that an android device is connected but nothing on my phone. I know it's not my laptop because my fiance has a HTC Hero and he does the USB mount all the time with no problems. Please help!

You may need to install the drivers for the phone on to your PC. Check out this post:

EDIT: I know it says Optimus One, but they are basically the same phone and the specific post I linked to worked for me today when I hooked my Optimus S to my Windows XP machine at my office.

everyone having this problem?

Hooked up a customer's Optimus S to their Vista machine, nothing. Hooked it up to my W7 machine... nothing. Is everyone having this problem, or just a select few lucky people? It seems *insane* LG would ship a phone that was this big a pain in the butt to get drivers for that only Android Central crawling nerds like us would find out about.

i had the same issue, but with some searching it led me to here, and now works like a charm.

Got my Optimus S last week and none of the computers in my house or work see it as a drive. I installed the drivers from LG site, still nothing. Sprint can't help over the phone. Anyone have same problem? Solution please?

hey thanks for this info... been trying for 2 days to get my optimus s to connect to my computer... and this info worked great for me! how come the drivers do not come wiht the phone?

If you phone is set for USB debugging then you will not see the drive show. Look in Menu/Settings/Applications/Developement and UNcheck USB debugging.

Edit; PS. A win7 will most likely download the drivers once it sees your phone.

with win7, i still had to download the drivers... used the LG tool that I got from a link here and did the singapore p500 trick. Also had to disable driver whatever in the bios.

Another possible issue is that your default drive for external storage devices may already in use, which means that your computer will not show it even though the device is working properly. Just something else to consider when troubleshooting

Hi fellow droid owners ive had my LG for a week and ive just now run into this problem. Ive already put music on it which is what i was tryin to do when the notification for the USB stopped popping up. So I Dled the USB drivers and the software update for the phone. Drivers are installed but the software update always fails at step 3 which is the installation of the software. If anyone has any ideas id appreciate the help.

i installed every thing and connect the phone to lap . but still get vothing . as contacts and photo not appear . also how can i drop something from lap to phone.
