I have a budget of $300 to spend on eBay.
I want to be on T-Mobile for the $30 a month plan, and I have awesome 4G coverage.
I'm also pretty interested in entering the apple ecosystem, too, to Facetime and iMessage my friends, and use SnapChat and iOS apps and such.
Okay, so I have a couple of options here:
-Get a myTouch 4G Slide (fair) and a 4th Gen iPod Touch (cracked)
-Get an HTC One S (excellent)
-Get a Galaxy Nexus (fair)

Help? I want a phone with good battery life, gaming, a nice screen, and 4G streaming on T-Mobile.
I also want to try the apple ecosystem, but it's optional.

The myTouch 4G is okay, but with it I get the apple ecosystem, too.
The HTC One S will be in great condition, however, no apple ecosystem.
The Galaxy Nexus will be in fair condition, but direct Google Updates, and no apple ecosystem.

What do you guys say?

FYI, the myTouch 4g is an Android phone.
Another vote for the Galaxy Nexus.

I think he's talking about the ipod touch he's getting with the myTouch 4G

Yes, I was referring to the iPod.
Also, I was considering the Nexus 4, but after taxes and shipping it adds up to ~$340, so that's out of budget. :/

I'm kind of leaning towards the iPod+midrange 4G phone right now,
I'm just trying to find the absolute best 4G T-Mobile phone that's <$210.

Oh, you want 4g? Galaxy Nexus.

The Galaxy Nexus is great and just barely within budget but it's getting harder and harder to find GSM ones,
and I seriously cannot decide between HTC Amaze 4G+iPod or just GNex....
Decisions :/

Why would you choose to carry around multiple devices that would both be subpar to the galaxy nexus?

Good point, honestly.
But do you think that $90 more for a Nexus 4 is truly worth it?

While I totally agree with you, 100%, the Nexus 4 is definitely my ideal phone.
But who knows when the $300 model will be back in stock, and it probably won't last very long.
A 16GB model brings me to $388 after shipping and taxes.
Not to mention it'll take weeks to arrive.
That doesn't even include a case to protect the easily shattered phone.

I was thinking about getting a nexus 4 but the only company that provides 3g is att mobile. My question is if I get this phone with straight talk and get kicked off since I tether quite a bit, can I just port my number over to tmobile then? Or should i just wait until virgin mobile gets the phone?

To me, yes. It's about future proofing and value. Brand new released device at that price is killer and will have long term support. It will be your next "Optimus V" in a sense. The GNex could give you the same thing, but it isn't guaranteed as much as the N4.

Well, I think I'll go with the Galaxy Nexus.
It's within budget, doesn't have a 5-6 week shipping time,
Has a nice big sexy screen,
Removable battery,
Decent enough specs,
and since it's a Nexus it should be covered by Google for a few more years.
Even after Google stops the official updates, xda will always be around.
:D
Thanks for all the input guys.
I'm hoping to purchase on the 28th as a late Christmas Present. ;)

Don't buy anything yet. Look at the Htc One X either the international or att one. T-Mobile is reframing their network for iPhones and unlocked phones so either way you will get 4G. The one x has the best battery life without an extended battery 12-18 hours and lots of storage. 16 GB. Plus it puts the galaxy nexus to shame with either a 1.5 dual core or 1.5 quad core processor.

plus they have over clocked it to 2.1 GHz this phone runs faster then my 4 year old laptop. Also a larger screen

Yeah, the HTC One X is awesome. Especially for $1 on contract.
I think that's what I'll do.
Still working out a teacher's discount with at&t before I sign anything.
