Can't download any sideloaded APKs?

So I just reset my N7 because everything kept crashing, even the system UI--sometimes it wouldn't even respond to being turned off. I have literally dozens of screenshots of "System UI/Settings/Netflix/etc is not responding". It's been driving me batsh*t crazy because it happens so often. And every Google app was seriously messed, too--like, my Play would say it was playing one song, freeze, and then play a totally random song from a different artist. No idea what could have possibly caused it, since I never dl fishy apps and it's not rooted. Bought a bunch o junk from the $.25 sale, and that's what made it worse than it was before (which was only occasional crashing), so I guess it must have been something there.

Aaanyway, I had some sideloaded apps (amazon app store, flash) I wanted to re-install, but every time I try to click "install" after viewing the permissions, the button doesn't work! I can "cancel" just fine, but I can't "install". See attached screenshot.

I actually had this exact same issue before I re-set, which makes me kind of worried that re-setting didn't do crap to fix all these errors--a few weeks back, totally out of the blue, I started having trouble dl'ing apps from the Amazon play store.

You have to go to Options>Security>Unknown Sources and check that box.

I'm aware of that, thanks though. If the box was unchecked, it would inform me before I could even get to that screen. The box is checked, and as far as I know, there's nothing that should prevent me from being able to accept the download.

I wish there was a way to speak to someone actually knowledgeable. I'd rather wait 20 minutes to speak to a guy who knows what he's doing, than wait for tech support whose only answers are 'clear data, reset, or replace device'.

Apps are still crashing frequently, even though I just reset it last night. So I guess I'm getting the device replaced. I'm just worried its an app--maybe Nova Launcher--that may be causing many of the issues. But even still, NL should work flawlessly on my device as it does on other N7s.

So why not run without utilities for a few days and see how stable it is?

I contacted Asus support after they recommended I get a product replacement; when I asked whether or not an app might be to blame, they said that if the system UI/settings/etc keep crashing, and many apps freeze, it's probably something in the system. I hadn't downloaded as many apps as I did before the reset--just a couple small games, Nova Launcher, tasks, evernote, that's pretty much it.

He told me to reset the N7 using a different method--by pressing all three buttons, and restoring the device or something. He said it would take about 5 minutes, but it's been closer to 30.. I'm going to call again

.. Nexus support told me ASUS would send me a new device before I send the old one back.. but ASUS told me I'd have to ship the device to them, wait three weeks for them to check it out, and have it shipped back--I can't afford to wait a month w/o a device. I was able to get out of the "Google" screen by restarting it, so we'll see how it works now.

edit:// it's actually working now. I'm a little worried it'll go back to the way it was before, but at least I'm able to dl sideloaded apps now. I'd rather cling on to my device than wait a month for ASUS to take a look at it.

Do you have any idea what caused it to start working? I have the same problem.

EDIT: Actually, nevermind. For me it's some type of bug with the Screen Filter app. After disabling that it's working.

How did you sideload the apps if you hadn't downloaded them?
